EMO (Epstein Macintosh Oxford) The EMO is an ether vaporizer, with both thermal buffering (a water jacket) and automatic thermo-compensation. Manufactured by Penlon
OMV (Oxford Miniature Vaporizer) The OMV has thermal buffering (water and antifreeze) but full thermo-compensation is not necessary. It can be used with halothane, trichlorethylene, enflurane, isoflurane, sevoflurane. Manufactured by Penlon
PAC series Ether-PAC and Fluo-PAC (Halothane) have automatic thermo-compensation. Manufactured by Datex-Ohmeda, now GE Healthcare.
Bryce-Smith Induction Unit (BSIU) These are no longer manufactured. If a BSIU is available it is very useful to facilitate induction when using the EMO ether vaporizer. It is a simple no-controls vaporizer which delivers 3 - 4 mls of halothane to precede, and assist induction with, ether. Originally manufactured by Penlon
Goldman A simple vaporizer (no longer made) useful for halothane.
Komesaroff Similar to the Goldman but with gradations on the glass bowl indicating volume. (See also Anaesthesia Systems below) Manufactured by Medical Developments International
Glostavent Vaporiser Suitable for both draw-over and continuous flow, and for most agents. Capacity 150 ml. (See also Anaesthesia Systems below) Manufactured by Diamedica
Glostavent The Glostavent is a unit comprising:
These are now manufactured by Diamedica but useful information can also be found on the original web site: www.glostavent.com
Diamedica Portable Anaesthesia System "A complete draw-over anaesthesia system in a case. The anaesthetic is delivered by the Glostavent Draw-over vaporizer. It comes complete with adult and paediatric circuits." Manufactured by Diamedica
Komesaroff Anaesthesia Machine Mk 5 Manufactured by Medical Developments International This equipment includes two 2-way low resistance vaporizers and can be used in the closed (?semi-closed) circle mode or, when necessary, in the draw-over mode. [Coyle: Its use is advisedly restricted to experienced medical anaesthetists, unless so modified temporarily that it can only be used in the draw-over mode.]
Tri-Service Anaesthetic Kit Manufactured by Penlon Originally developed for military field use, the Tri-Service Kit has 2 OMVs (Oxford Miniature Vaporizers) and is designed primarily for use with adults in the draw-over mode. It includes the necessary items to allow oxygen supplementation. The Tri-Service can be readily adapted for paediatric use. For children under 15 kg

ULCO FAM100 Mk2 Field Anaesthesia Machine This is primarily a military field kit with the option of plenum or draw-over modes of function. [Coyle: Non-military use is probably best confined to experienced medical anaesthetists.]
