Oxygen Concentrators An oxygen concentrator is a device that uses a molecular sieve to separate the nitrogen from air and so provides a flow of oxygen (and the rare gases). There are hospital size concentrators, which include a facility to fill cylinders, and small concentrators, for domestic and clinic use, and for inclusion in other equipment. These suppliers have websites... A recent WHO Survey identifies the AirSep as both cheaper and technically better than other small units. It has been suggested by an expert in this area (on the basis of experience in the field) that several small (“domestic”) oxygen concentrators are a wiser choice than one large (hospital-size) concentrator unless adequate maintenance and servicing can be assured, although this does remove the opportunity of filling cylinders.
